The Nissui Group aims to have the items that the Nissui Group procures confirmed as sustainable by the year 2030.
The preservation of resources and resolution of labor-related human rights issues is called for when using and procuring marine resources. We are working with our suppliers to implement sustainable procurement that maintains respect for human rights.

Nissui has formulated the Nissui Group Basic Procurement Policy by summarizing the basic approaches to the procurement of raw materials and products.

In June 2022, Nissui revised its Supplier Guideline, given the need to collaborate more intensely with suppliers to carry out sustainable procurement. The Supplier Guideline, the topics of which are comprised of "Compliance with Laws and Regulations," "Respect for Human Rights," "Safety and Health," and "Environmental Consideration," places emphasis especially on the human rights of employees.

The Supplier Guideline is distributed to all of Nissui Corporation’s Tier 1 suppliers (suppliers within and outside Japan with which Nissui Corporation has direct transactions), and suppliers are also asked to sign a Statement of Agreement. When distributing the Supplier Guideline, we also send them a video (in Japanese and English) mainly explaining the purpose and content of the guideline. Going forward, we will expand this initiative to suppliers of Nissui Group companies both within and outside Japan and strive to reduce human rights risks in the Nissui Group's global supply chain.

Scope of data: Nissui Corporation’s Tier 1 suppliers

The Nissui Group is working to reduce human rights risks in the entire supply chain based on the Nissui Group Basic Procurement Policy and the Supplier Guideline.
In addition to conducting comprehensive reviews through our Self-Assessment Questionnaire, we will conduct risk-based investigations and dialogues with particularly important suppliers, leading to continuous monitoring and risk reduction.

Supplier Self-Assessment

In order to reduce human rights and environmental risks in the supply chain, Nissui has sent SAQ (Self-Assessment Questionnaire) to all of its Tier 1 suppliers (suppliers within and outside Japan with which Nissui Corporation has direct transactions) since FY2023 to check the status of their efforts. SAQ consists of items based on the Supplier Guideline and is used to understand the status of each supplier's efforts and issues. When particularly high priority items do not meet the criteria, we request improvement in writing or visit the supplier to provide advice for improvement, and regularly monitor the status of their efforts.

Supplier Risk Assessment and Response

Nissui identifies important suppliers based on transaction volume and product characteristics, and takes actions according to risks. Since 2025, we have been promoting information sharing with overseas contract manufacturers, such as requesting them to join Sedex (Note), a third-party platform, and to complete the SAQ (Self-Assessment Questionnaire). Through these initiatives, we are striving to quickly identify risks based on international standards and work with suppliers to achieve sustainable procurement. At domestic contract manufacturers where foreign workers are employed, we have checked their working environment and the status of their sustainable procurement efforts through on-site visits and dialogues since 2023. If issues are identified, we work with the supplier to improve them.

More than 100,000 companies and organizations in 180 countries and regions worldwide are using its services (as of April 2026).

On-Site Visits and Dialogues

We implement special training for the Nissui Corporation purchasing managers who act as the contact point between Nissui and its suppliers, with the aim of strengthening human rights and environmental due diligence in relation to suppliers. The training covers social problems relating to human rights, as well as what stakeholders expect, and the importance of the Supplier Guideline and the revisions that have been made to the Guideline; the aim of the training is to strengthen communication with suppliers that will further the realization of sustainable procurement.
